New Release & Giveaway: Witch Wars by T.A. Moorman

Congratulations to T.A. Moorman on her debut PNR release.

What is Witch Wars About?

Underlayes is another dimension where all sorts of nocturnal creatures reside; witches, vampires, fae, shifters, werewolves…… The dimension was created by all of these creatures working side by side to escape the scrutiny and danger to their very existence that stemmed from the human world. Humans tend to fear things they do not understand and tend to try and eliminate anything that they fear. Even though these nocturnal beings were actually humanoid themselves as well, just different, more enhanced, than their day bearing brethren.....

Amongst those beings lies a very powerful witch, Tialanna, who is to become the queen of all Underlayes witches.

Thinking the worst part of her life was the fact that she was betrothed to a complete stranger while in love with someone else. She is in for a rude awakening when she discovers the truth of who, and what, she truly is.

Tialanna is about to learn the truth behind several lies, because not only does her life depend on it, but so does the fate of the family she never even new she had. But hey, life would probably just be boring if she didn’t have to deal with elemental witches, vampires, demons, sorcerers, bindings, spells and whatnot, right?

***This book is intended for mature audiences only as there will be both graphic violence and graphic sex.***

About The T.A. MOORMAN:

When you become a Mom, you begin to put yourself last, and your combat boots begin to collect dust. Going to your child's PTA meetings in full Gothic, especially industrial, regalia is pretty much frowned upon. Especially by your own children, and your teens would die of a heart attack. But, one should not have to completely stop being themselves, uniqueness is greatness. So all of that darkness is put into words in her books, and designs in her jewelry sold in her Etsy shop, GothicMoms DarkCharms.

A single mother of four beautiful children, but by far more than just that. T. A. Moorman is an artist, a violinist, a seamstress, a crafter, a writer, a blogger, a reviewer, a dark confidant and a darkly dangerous, fiercely protective friend.

REVIEW: Blood Kiss by JR Ward

JR Ward has a new one!!

What it's about:
The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in a spin-off series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author…

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself. It’s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it’s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch O’Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated--and left wondering whether she’s strong enough to claim her own power...on the field, and off.

My thoughts:
JR Ward finally gives us a new installment of the BDB…well a spin off series. So great to see all the old guys and a return to the original styled series. I could not put this book down once I started. So few authors hook me in that way. Even though this is a “new beginning,” I can’t recommend a newbie to reading this author’s work start with this book. This is a great book, but there is so much reliance on the old characters from her Black Dagger Brotherhood, especially Butch/Marissa whose story is continued, that this isn’t very good as a stand alone. If you’re a fan and you read the others, you must pick this one up.

In this book we get to meet Paradise, even though we did meet her before as a small character previously in the BDB books. In an attempt to escape her upper eschelon life in the glymera and destiny to become an ornamental mate (or shellan), she applies to join the Brotherhood’s training school. Then she meets the commoner and extraordinarily talented fighter, Craeg. Their chemistry literally incinerates the pages. For her, not good to be this attracted to a classmate in a rigorous, sometimes life-threatening, war-training program. As the pull between them grows, she must figure out how to balance her on-the-field challenges as well as off-the-field.

Then there’s Butch and Marissa. So loved this plot. This author has pulled this off in previous books, the working through of a complex long-term relationship through some heavy angst and with such pure artistry. Kudos for giving this couple their due.

New Release & Review: Tell Me You Want Me by Joya Ryan

Congrats to Joya Ryan on her new release. And, whew, it's a hot one!

What it's about:
She’s getting dirty with the bad boy…
Determined to find her inner badass and save her business, boutique owner Michelle Ruby signs up for a twenty-four hour survival class. Except, she’s the only person who registered, and the guide is a sex-on-a-stick G.I. Joe come to life. Between his massive muscles, smoldering blue eyes, and “there’s no crying in camping” attitude, she’s in trouble…in more ways than one.
Search and rescue squad member Dex Young never thought he’d be roped into teaching “survival skills” to pageant queens. His sole student is upper class, upper state, and sexy as hell. And he has a sneaking suspicion that beneath her tight updo and designer jeans, there’s a sex kitten waiting to claw her way out.

But Dex knows women like her. Knows they only bring guys like him home to piss off their daddies. If it’s the bad boy experience she wants, she’ll get it. And Dex? Well, he can’t wait to find out just how dirty Michelle’s willing to get…

My Thoughts:
Joya Ryan gives us a hot one in this book. It’s a fast and easy read. We’ve got our heroine, Michelle, who’s trying to break free of her past and have new experiences, and our hero, Dex, a super hot survivalist expert in need of hours training inexperienced people to be recertified. Michelle wants those hours for an outdoorsy experience very much out of her comfort zone. She wasn’t going into it looking for more than a taste of how to survive outdoors. The heat between the main characters melts the pages.

Perhaps because this was such a short story there wasn’t much time for the author to draw out the characters. Not a lot of back-and-forth. The two jumped so fast into a one-nighter that it surprised me.  Usually there’s a little buildup but it was wham-boom in this book. Hey, if the chemistry is there…as it surely was for these two.

My only issue is I had a hard time buying a deep connection between the two characters beyond the physical, at least nothing that would hold them together for the long-term.

If you’re looking for a fast, hot read, then this is the one for you.
