New Release, Two reviews and Rebecca Yarros hits it out of the park!!

Wow, I got the chance to read not one, but TWO Rebecca Yarros books. These are the first two in her new Renegades series. New Adult novels. Both can be read as stand alones and these are books you'll want to pick up.

What Renegades#1 is about:
He’s Paxton Wilder.

Twenty-two-year-old, tattooed, smoking-hot leader of the Renegades.

Five time X Games medalist.

The world is his playground—especially this year—and for the next nine months I’m stuck as his tutor on the Study at Sea program.

He’s too busy staging worldwide stunts for his documentary to get to class.

But if I can’t get him to take academics seriously, I’ll lose my scholarship…if I don’t lose my heart first.

Six unlikely friends on a nine-month cruise with the Study at Sea program will learn that chemistry is more than a subject and the best lessons aren’t taught in the classroom…but in the heart.

My thoughts:

Rebecca Yarros delivers again! Loved the Flight and Glory series (see my other reviews), but this is so much fun. We’ve got our relationship-damaged and cautious heroine, Leah, assigned to tutor Paxton Wilder on a round the world classroom at sea. She has to do it to keep her scholarship. Wilder is, well, wild—an X-Games, stunt afficiando reminiscent of Xander Cage from Triple XXX in that he videos himself and crew do crazy stunts for online production. Wilder has his own investment in being tutored and keeping his grades up which is linked to inheriting family money to keep his crazy crew in business. The two could not be more dynamically opposite, which is at bit cliché. However, it works. Their story is poignant and sweet with highs and lows as he shows her how to live on the wild side and she shows him how to do a relationship by healing each other. Great read.

What it's about:
The only heart he wants is the one he already broke...

He's Landon Rhodes.
The Renegade they call Nova.
Sinfully gorgeous, broody, tatted-up, professional snowboarder.
Four-time X Games medalist—
Full-time heartbreaker.

They say a girl broke him once—
That's why he's so reckless, so driven, so careless with his conquests.
But I'm that girl.
They can call me his curse all they want.
He and I both know the truth—
He's the one who destroyed me,
And I'm not the sucker who will let that happen again.

My thoughts:
And I thought Wilder was great! This is a new top fav for me. Ah-maz-zing!  We knew Landon’s (aka Nova, short for Casanova) moment was coming after the first book in the series. We’ve got our hawt X-games snowboarding guru currently involved in filming a documentary with extreme stunts while participating in a study at sea program. He walked away from love two and a half years ago and has been on a non-stop sex marathon since. Then, enter the girl he left, Rachel, who’s stuck on this at sea program for another six months. Her plan was to ignore him, but he wants her forgiveness and to start over. Second chance love at its best. Highly recommend.

Indulge Your Fantasy for Valentine's Day

THREE sexy new millionaires just in time for Valentine's Day. Find a new book boyfriend!

Boston socialite Morgan Lett is having a run of bad luck. Her fiancé just dumped her for her stepsister, the charity foundation she’s given her life to is in danger of folding, and now, the gorgeous man she bid on and won at a masquerade bachelor auction turns out to be a cold-hearted jerk…and her new employer.
Millionaire Alexander Bishop needs the best wife money can buy. In order to inherit his family business, he must get engaged—fast. And Morgan, with her beauty and pedigree, is the perfect candidate. Her sharp tongue may drive him crazy, but she needs money to save the foundation she loves, and he needs a fiancée. It’s a flawless arrangement—no strings, no love. But soon she has him craving more, and cursing the platonic terms of their agreement.
Still, he won’t allow need—no matter how hot it burns—to threaten everything he’s built.

Robyn Tindall’s new boss has a penchant for running off new personal assistants before lunch, but she’s not about to let herself be fired by the billionaire with a bad attitude, no matter how good he looks. She’s determined to be indispensible and unflappable, until he surprises her with a crazy proposal. Curtis Frye is impressed with his new assistant’s dedication and decides she could be the answer to his publicity problems if only she’ll agree to marry him. It’s the perfect plan. He can offer her the world—everything he thinks a woman desires. But Robyn doesn’t want anything money can buy. She wants a happily ever after with a man who loves her. If only he can convince her love is off the table, not to mention convince his heart of that…

London publishing tycoon Rosco Redmond closely guards his family, his business, and his privacy. When his sister’s wedding brings the paparazzi baying at his door, wedding photographer Kitty Mayfair unwittingly becomes his decoy girlfriend. But the mysterious Kitty has secrets of her own. Despite the sexy hint of an appealing Irish brogue, Kitty’s new boss is bent on micromanaging his sister’s wedding and the crazy fake relationship she’s been dragged into. The only thing they seem to have in common, is that neither of them believes in happy-ever-afters. But the more time Kitty spends with the tycoon, the more she begins to suspect there’s a lot of fire beneath his cool facade. With the past complicating their present, and the zoom lenses of photographers everywhere they go, the commitment phobic control freak and the globe-trotting free spirit clash and ignite.

Review: The Bone Witch

I was so fortunate to get an ARC of this book and what a creative ride.

When Tea accidentally resurrects her brother from the dead, she learns she is different from the other witches in her family. Her gift for necromancy means that she’s a bone witch, a title that makes her feared and ostracized by her community. But Tea finds solace and guidance with an older, wiser bone witch, who takes Tea and her brother to another land for training.

In her new home, Tea puts all her energy into becoming an asha — one who can wield elemental magic. But dark forces are approaching quickly, and in the face of danger, Tea will have to overcome her obstacles…and make a powerful choice.

Memoirs of a Geisha meets The Name of the Wind in this brilliant new fantasy series by Rin Chupeco!

The book took a while to get into and was a bit confusing, but super kudos for creativity. The pacing I found to be slow, sometimes tedious. I think I was expecting more action with such amazing characterizations of the good and evil characters. However, the world building is top notch. There’s no holding back on description in this book, if you can handle it. I didn’t always enjoy the flipping of perspective between the past and present, but I’m the type of reader who wants everything in the now and not the past. So, no fault of the author on this; it’s probably me. I’m not patient through long passages on what already happened and find myself skim reading, which I probably shouldn’t. But all of it was worth it for the twists at the end. I’ll be picking up the next in the series.
