New Release Review: REBEL by Rebecca Yarros
Rebecca Yarros's REBEL is finally available. This is the third in the Renegades series. Don't worry if you didn't read the others. You can pick this one up no problem. It's a great read.
ABOUT REBEL
She’s Penna Carstairs.
The Renegade they call Rebel.
FMX-treme Magazine’s
sexiest female athlete of the year.
There’s no rule in extreme sports she hasn’t
broken,
No gender barrier she hasn’t demolished.
She’s the woman I met in a bar in Vegas.
The woman I illegally BASE jumped for.
The woman I spent one insane, incredible night
with.
But now I’m screwed.
Or rather…not screwed.
Because the woman I can’t get out of my head is the
one woman I can never touch again.
I’m Dr. Cruz Delgado—the youngest professor on this
campus,
And Penelope Carstairs just walked into my class.

MY THOUGHTS
Rebecca Yarros slam dunks another adrenaline-thrill Rendgades novel. I was hooked in the first ten pages. Wasn't sure what to expect from the one Renegade girl known for extreme stunts who's on the recovery after an attack in the last novel (from her sister). What's amaze-balls about this book is the balance between Penelope's (Penna) need for the adrenaline craziness of motorbike/base jumping/ or whatever insane stunt she'd doing and her inner falling apart. Done quite well.
Enter Cruz, hottie hot of Cuban hotness, who in the first chapter sees Penelope needs him and does a seriously stupid stunt with her. He becomes off limits as her teacher. I'm not a fan of teacher-student relationships and even though I think the author did a great job with this I still got a bit of the willies over it. What's nice is establishing the characters as having a solid connection before they realized they were teacher-student. The being found out might be inevitable, but it's what happens afterward that is worth the read. Seriously, grab this book. Who cares if you missed the others. This one's a winner.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and a lover
of all things coffee, chocolate, and Paleo. She is the author of the Flight
& Glory, Renegades, and Legacy series. She loves military heroes, and has
been blissfully married to hers for fifteen years.
When she’s not writing, she’s tying hockey skates
for her four sons, sneaking in some guitar time, or watching brat-pack movies
with her two daughters. She lives in Colorado with the hottest Apache pilot
ever, their rambunctious gaggle of kids, an English bulldog who is more
stubborn than sweet, and a tortoise who might be faster than the bulldog. They
recently adopted their youngest daughter from the foster system, and Rebecca is
passionate about helping others do the same.
