Beach Livin’
I live a
stone’s throw from a wide, usually deserted, sandy beach, in the middle of
nowhere. You’d be surprised how noisy the ocean gets on a stormy night, but for
the most part, I adore it. The sea is calm some days, restless on others, and
never predictable.
It’s hardly
surprising that many of my recent stories take place in this setting, and HIS
TEMPORARY FIX from the Love at the Beach series is the latest.
For a
writer, there’s so much inspiration to be found. A jogger who ventures out at
dusk every day. A couple with two dogs, one giant, and one miniature. A lively
group of youths playing ball, while one of them lurks on the fringe. Each one
could be a story in the making.
The lead
character from HIS TEMPORARY FIX was inspired by a guy I saw in the shallows
one evening. He gazed to the horizon, lost in his own world, and completely
oblivious to the dog yapping at his feet. Whoever he is, thank you! You gave me
a story. :)
