Love fantasy? Then you should definitely read this book.

What it's about:

Twisted myths. Discretion advised.

Fight fate, or succumb to destiny?

In the dark Age of Kali, the Soul Warrior alone stands guard over the Human Realm, protecting its denizens from evil-willed asuras or demons. When a trick of fate appoints him guru to a motley crew of godlings, he agrees to train them as demon hunters against his better judgment. Suddenly, Lord Karna is not only battling the usual asuras with sinister agendas, but also rebellious students and a fault-ridden past.

Spanning the cosmic realms of mythic India, here is a tale of a band of supernatural warriors who come together over a singular purpose: the salvation of Karna’s secret child.

GUEST POST
Soul Warrior Soundtrack by Falguni Kothari

I think most authors have a list of songs they listen to while writing their book. Music invokes moods and atmosphere, and the right mood or mental atmosphere can trigger the inspiration and then writing of a great scene. Imagine writing a scene where a teenage girl is shopping for shoes with her friends. Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun springs to mind, right? It may even be the right music were the story about a young girl’s schoolyard travails.
Now imagine listening to the Jaws theme music while writing the same scene.
Immediate mood change. A sense of foreboding comes to mind, and now the writer (and eventually the reader) is thinking…hm, the girl is about to be stabbed through the heart with a stiletto. Maybe a bad man comes in and kidnaps the girl? Or the shoe shop suddenly bursts into flames? A bomb threat or terrorist attack? The Jaws music would invoke a sinister, mysterious and possibly dangerous mood. Creepy, right?

For Soul Warrior, I obviously needed strong warrior-like music. At the same time, the book is also about relationships: between man and woman, between friends, between siblings and between parent and child, between Gods and humans. I needed a mix of battle-cry music with strong saga elements…almost opera-ish. Luckily for me YouTube is a Mecca of Music.

Here’s a small sample of the playlist I created while writing Soul Warrior.
For the fight scenes or “warrior-like” writing:

Vedic Chanting:

Singham:

Mauja Mauja:

Troy:

And, I listened to these while writing dramatic scenes and/or romantic interactions:

Asoka:

So, how does music affect you or your moods?
