Review & Giveaway: Proper Ink by Zeia Jameson

Introducing PROPER INK BY ZEIA JAMESON

About Proper Ink:

Luca Cipriani knows art. Specifically, tattoos. Patience, focus, and attention to detail are crucial. He's consumed with it all. For the past three years, Luca has been building his reputation as the master of ink in Savannah, Georgia. It wasn't his original plan, but sometimes, lives twist and plans change.   Kerry Frazier knows entertainment. Specifically, event planning. Locations, guest lists, and the hottest trends keep clients begging for more. She's living the dream. Even though Kerry’s job is exhilarating and rewarding, it’s also never ending. So a night on the town for herself is just what she needs.   Luca never expected someone like Kerry to waltz into his shop. And blatantly flirt with him, no less. He never imagined flirting would lead to more. One secret night. That was all it was supposed to be. Until one night turned into two. Three.   Luca doesn't do feelings. Kerry can't do complicated. What happens when you're drawn to someone who is bound to break your heart?

MY THOUGHTS:

I recieved this as an ARC and because I’m all for damaged bad-boys who are tattoo artists, I was all in. Some of my fav authors write these characters, but I had a hard time connecting with the characters in this story. Maybe it’s because it’s written first person from the hero’s POV, which is interesting but not the norm for the genre. It didn’t always feel true to the inner workings of a male mind. Still, the dialogue is perky and fun and it has a smooth style to the internal dialogue of the hero that keeps the story rocking along.

Our hero, Luca, had his heart obliterated in the past and isn’t in a rush to have it happen again, which makes him closed off but not impervious to a new relationship. He meets Kelly, an events planner, and they have a hot one-night, although once might not be enough to get each other out of their systems. Somehow, I felt that the initial physical interactions of the H/h didn’t make sense, but these characters do steam the pages.
I didn’t read the first in the series. I’d recommend doing so as it might help with background for this installment in the series.

  1. I've always been fascinated by people in the tattoo industry and tattoos in general.

  2. I'm pretty sure I have never read a book in any genre with a tattoo artist as the main character! Sounds like its worth a read!
